One of the most important furniture in the house is the dining table. Here, the whole family can enjoy the delicious home cooking as well as gather and discuss the light topics. For that, the selection of the right dining table should be a concern if you plan to buy it in the near future. Setting a table is not too difficult, there are just a few things you should look into. Here are tips on selecting dining table according to room condition :
1. Notice the Material
If you want a wooden dining table, choose hardwood materials such as mahogany, walnut, maple, oak or teak.
2. Measure the room area
It is important to gauge whether the dining table is appropriate for the area of your room, especially if the dining room is small. Do not let the table is too big for a small room, or too small for a spacious room. A rectangular table placed in a narrow space will quickly eat up the room and make it look narrow. One important thing, you should be able to walk and move between tables and chairs.
3. Determine Table Form
There are several rules in determining the shape of the dining table to suit a particular room. For a small room, choose an oval-shaped table for space and do not make the room look too ‘crowded’. Square-shaped tables are more suitable for small rooms, while rectangles should be placed in large rooms. A round table can actually be placed in any size room, but preferably not in a narrow space as it will limit the space.
4. Check the Table Dimension
Most dining tables have a standard height between 28 – 30 inches. The most comfortable table height can provide enough space above the knee and parallel to the elbow when you sit down.
